Shogun partnered with Platinum Salesforce Consulting Partner DEG to develop a LINK cartridge, which would allow brands to use the Shogun page builder within Commerce Cloud.

When you have an incredible product that makes marketers’ lives easier, you want to shout about it from the rooftops. Yet another way to get more customers is to develop a way for your product and one of the largest, industry-leading platforms to work together to build without limits.

The challenge

Shogun is a front-end development software company that provides a drag-and-drop page builder for ecommerce platforms. With more than 10,000 ecommerce clients, including brands like Chubbies, Leesa, and K-Swiss, Shogun was looking to expand its page-builder solution to Salesforce Commerce Cloud and needed a partner well versed in the platform. The company partnered with Platinum Salesforce Consulting Partner DEG to develop a LINK cartridge, which would allow brands to use the Shogun page builder within Commerce Cloud.

Brands seeking to build beautiful commerce website pages rely on the easy tools built into their commerce platforms. DEG sought to integrate Shogun into Salesforce Commerce Cloud to seamlessly allow brands to build well-designed pages, without dealing with lines of code, to meet their business needs.

The strategy

Using its previous experience building plug-ins for Salesforce Commerce Cloud, DEG created a roadmap to develop the Shogun LINK cartridge and ensure it was quickly approved within the Salesforce marketplace.

Shogun and DEG launched the LINK cartridge on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud marketplace, meeting time and budget estimates.

The solution

DEG and Shogun kicked off the LINK cartridge development by integrating how Salesforce Commerce Cloud creates pages and the operations of the Shogun page builder. The integration needed to allow for a brand to create a page on Shogun and sync with Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

To make that happen, the DEG team crafted the cartridge to enable ecommerce teams to use Shogun’s page builder to develop custom pages—without needing to know any code—that can be edited and reused throughout the Commerce Cloud site. The agency also diagrammed the user flow and integrations between the two platforms, using the latest technology on the Commerce Cloud platform to provide a modern approach.

As a result, all synchronized Shogun pages are stored as cached, standard content assets in Commerce Cloud, leveraging the platform’s speed and gaining access to real-time product data such as names, images, inventory, pricing, and add-to-cart functionality.

Within Shogun, teams could manage the content and product information for any templated Commerce Cloud content asset, allowing for customers to be marketed to using various forms of banners, marketing and product imagery, pricing, and catalog information.

The Shogun integration cartridge offered the core functionalities of viewing and using Shogun Page Builder directly within Commerce Cloud Business Manager. This syncs Shogun templates to Commerce Cloud content areas in real-time, exporting product data for the Shogun application and enabling Shogun Analytics for use within the Page Builder application.

Finally, DEG developed installation and user guides in Confluence with documentation and step-by-step instructions for developers to implement the Shogun Page Builder LINK cartridge and content creators and merchandisers to create pages with pre-made, drag-and-drop templates and elements for Commerce Cloud sites.

The outcome

Shogun and DEG launched the LINK cartridge on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud marketplace, meeting time and budget estimates. Once installed, the cartridge allows Commerce Cloud users to create and leverage functional and engaging commerce page layouts without needing countless development hours.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of the Salesforce ecosystem to help the world-class merchants on the platform streamline their front-end workflows,” said Ryan Shaw, director of growth marketing at Shogun. “DEG has been an invaluable partner to us as we’ve launched on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform.”

Following the launch on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, many existing clients immediately installed the Shogun LINK cartridge. Now, more marketers can build the next generation of ecommerce stores with Shogun and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
