The challenge

Balfour, a leader in the commemorative jewelry industry, needed to launch a website under its brand Keepsake Bowling for the U.S. Bowling Congress conference. In order for sales reps to walk around and talk to bowlers about commemorative purchases at the conference, the website needed to be easy to use and include all customization options available for the mementos.

The opportunity

As a DTC retailer with a newly optimized commerce website, Keepsake Bowling could target avid bowlers at a key conference during key moments of purchase enthusiasm.

The insight

When celebrating major accomplishments, bowlers seek out mementos that are easy to customize immediately after they score big.

DEG is working on integrating further Magento enhancements for the Keepsake Bowling site and partnering with the brand’s parent company, Balfour, on additional Magento projects.

The strategy

In order to check every box Keepsake Bowling needed for its new website, DEG created a phased approach to building and launching the site within a short timeline.

The additional phases of the project would enhance the fully customizable product catalogue and site functionality and would add integrations for an easier user experience and purchase capabilities.

The solution

DEG upgraded the existing Magento 1 site to a Magento Cloud site for Keepsake Bowling, using a lightly customized theme and adding integrations for credit card transactions and easier product search capabilities. The new commerce site included customizable products with options for birthstones, engravings, placements, side stones, and metals.

To create an easy-to-purchase site, DEG built the new Magento 2 site using page builder with minor UI modifications, making it tablet friendly for bowlers initially visiting the site at the conference. As a result, Keepsake’s sales reps were able to better assist customers with purchases thanks to the built-in abilities to see customers’ carts and wish lists, as well as segment customers to set up promotions and offers during the conference.

The outcome

The first phases of the website were completed on an expedited timeline—28 days from kickoff to launch—that allowed for Keepsake Bowling to quickly begin servicing its customers with better search, customization, and purchase capabilities.

As a result, DEG is working on integrating further Magento enhancements for the Keepsake Bowling site and partnering with the brand’s parent company, Balfour, on additional Magento projects. Now, the next time someone bowls a perfect game or wins their league, they can celebrate more easily with Keepsake Bowling.
