Joe Cromer is the Director of Portals and Collaboration at DEG, a trusted digital marketing partner to national and global brands.

As Director of DEG’s growing Portals and Collaboration practice, Joe helps his clients gain a strategic advantage over competitors by effectively leveraging the right technology and user-centric design approach, while tackling customer and employee experience challenges. Joe is passionate about helping organizations establish and implement their unique vision and “secret sauce,” clearly translating their culture and ethos to customers and employees in the digital world. Joe and his team have advised and implemented innovative intranet, extranet, and customer self-service solutions for clients in multiple industries ranging from major utilities like Kansas City Power & Light to consumer product brands like Hallmark Cards and Hanes.

Prior to joining DEG, Joe spent nearly 20 years as a seasoned entrepreneur and technology consultant, founding an international consulting company and helping to establish a development center in Prague, Czech Republic and a client base in Chicago and Zurich, Switzerland. He also founded an ecommerce company developing a proprietary commerce platform and launching a network of successful consumer and business focused ecommerce sites.

A recognized leader in the discipline, Joe has been a content contributor and guest speaker for AIIM, the Global Community of Information Professionals, and SharePoint Saturday events. Joe also gives back to the community as a board member for Open Options, helping to provide resources for people and families with disabilities in Kansas City.

Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Western Kentucky. Outside the office, he is an accomplished musician, having spent time as an organist and pianist with a number of bands, including the True Historians in Chicago and The Hamptones in Kansas City. When not working or playing music, Joe’s favorite activity is watching his twins and toddler chase each other around the backyard while he listens to the Royals game.
