OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Oct. 5, 2020) – Full-service agency DEG, a Merkle Company won the MediaPost EIS Award in the Best Use of Interactive Emails category for its work with The Salvation Army during the 2020 holiday season.
DEG and The Salvation Army also won an EIS Award in 2019—this time in the Sales/Contests/Offers category—as well as being recognized as Best in Show. The 2021 award is the 12th time DEG and The Salvation Army have been recognized for their work across various competitions.

Before COVID-19, The Salvation Army relied heavily on its annual Angel Tree efforts that allowed individuals across the country to pick a tag off a Christmas tree at a local mall or public place with the name of a gift that the individual could donate to a family in need. In the interest of public health and safety, DEG and The Salvation Army Central and Western Territories developed the Rescue Christmas email campaign, playing off the Angel Tree concept with an interactive email series.
Donors could click on an image of a wrapped gift to scratch off various donation amounts that showed the good these gifts can bring to those in need, and spark inspiration. The Rescue Christmas emails saw a click-through rate that was double of what The Salvation Army’s typical promotional emails received.
The MediaPost EIS Awards recognize outstanding email marketing programs and initiatives undertaken by brands and their agencies. The awards were announced during an awards ceremony on October 4.
