Wistia for Video: Collect Email Addresses through Video

Does your email subscriber list have attrition? Have you been dutifully reengaging/cleaning unengaged email subscribers to protect your sending reputation and budget? If you have video content, consider uploading those videos to Wistia, a video hosting service geared for businesses.

A major feature of Wistia is a turnstile email collection that integrates with several email service providers: AWeber, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, Emma, Hubspot, Infusionsoft, MailChimp, and Pardot. The turnstile can be added before a video plays, anytime during a video, or at the end of a video. The entering of an email address can be optional or mandatory. The email addresses will be pushed to your integrated email service provider.

If you added an email turnstile to the end of a video, the subscriber who provides an email address will be invaluable; that is, the subscriber just completed watching your video, engaged with your brand, and willingly offered personal information, in the form of their email address.

Wistia’s email turnstile will augment your other available collection tools: a website form, a website popup form, in-store point of sale, contests, mobile sms text, Google AdWords, Facebook tab, and Twitter.

DEG deploys our marketing email through Pardot, a salesforce.com company, and we were recently named a Pardot Agency Partner (I wrote a post on my tips and thoughts of implementing Pardot). We regularly conduct complimentary trainings and wanted to share these videos on our blog.

For us, Wistia’s Pardot integration was a deciding factor over other hosting options (YouTube or Vimeo). We additionally liked several other Wistia features:
